Sprucing up Sitka

The Sitka Center for Art and Ecology is seeking volunteers to lend a hand at the Fall Spruce Up Day, which will take place on Wednesday, Sept. 26.

The rain-or-shine event will see volunteers join staff members to carry out light exterior and interior maintenance to keep the secluded campus beautiful.

The list of short tasks includes gardening, cleaning outdoor tables, removing cobwebs, repainting parking lot lines, weeding, raking, cleaning windows, sweeping and re-painting bathrooms. Volunteers can drop in any time from 9 am to 3 pm and stay as long as they like. Any amount of time is greatly appreciated.

The center will be providing a pizza lunch and homemade peanut butter rice crispy treats. In order to accommodate for lunch, RSVP to Sara Haug at sarahaug@sitkacenter.org by Monday, Sept. 24.
