The Newport 60+ Adventure Van will be heading north on Wednesday, April 24, for a day exploring the Tillamook Forest Center and Tillamook Cheese Factory.

The Tillamook Forest Center aims to help visitors develop a deeper connection with Oregon’s forests through experience and exploration. At the Discover and Learn Center, visitors can explore the past, present and future of the Tillamook State Forest through artifacts, personal stories, photos, film and exhibits. Outdoors, the forest comes alive through salmon watching viewpoints, the bridge and lookout tower and a network of interpretive trails.

The Tillamook Cheese Factory is run by the Tillamook County Creamery Association, a farmer-owned cooperative established in 1909. The visitor center opened in 1966, and is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the state with nearly a million visitors each year. Guests can take a walking tour on the second floor of the facility and see how cheese is made. After the tour, visitors can sample different varieties of cheese as well as multiple flavors of ice cream. Those in search of a more substantial meal will find plenty to choose from at the Farmhouse Café.

The van will be leaving at 8 am from the Newport 60+ Activity Center at 20 SE Second Street, and returning by 5 pm. The cost for the trip is $23.

For more information or to book a seat, drop by the center or call 541-265-9617.
