A Newport Fathers’ Day celebration will see Corvettes cruising and clippers flying this Saturday, June 20.

The Bay City Cruisers Car Club will be the star attraction at a parade celebrating the residents of Oceanview Senior Living, with a special focus on the fathers. Meanwhile, Oceanview Executive Director Becky Donaldson will shave her head on Facebook Live if supporters can hit a $5,000 target for cancer relief.

Donaldson’s locks will hit the floor at 3 pm if the target is reached. Donations will benefit CAN Cancer, which provides financial support to cancer patients throughout Lincoln County, helping pay for non-medical expenses, such as gas cards to get to and from treatments.

Other Oceanview staffers have committed to going under the clippers if fund-raising hits the $7,500 and $10,000 marks.

The car parade will line up at 11 am and begin at 11:30 am in the Oceanview parking lot at 525 NE 71st Street, Newport.

Guests are welcome to walk around and look at the cars before the parade as long as they wear masks and maintain a six-foot distance from anyone outside their household. Residents will be socially distanced outside to watch and cheer on the parade as it boisterously loops the parking lot, with horns honking.
