Registration is now open for a “Birding Basics” adult education class taught by instructors from the Audubon Society of Lincoln City.

The class will run from 1:30 to 3 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays, May 21 and 23, and May 28 and 30 at the Lincoln City campus of Oregon Coast Community College, 3788 SE High School Drive.

Do you find yourself listening to an odd chirp while walking or gardening? Are you fascinated by the random rustlings in the bushes? Do you notice and enjoy the birds in your world, but wish you knew more about these clever and busy neighbors? Participants in “Birding Basics” will learn how birds behave, making them easier to find, watch and identify.

Audubon Society of Lincoln City instructors Caren Willoughby, Laura Doyle and Mark Elliot will teach identification, adaptations and habitat of the birds of the Oregon Coast. Participants will have access to bird guides and binoculars and will learn how to use them. The final day of the class will be a field trip to practice using binoculars and field guides to identify birds in the area.

Cost of the class is $40 plus $10 for materials. To register, go to www.oregoncoastcc.org/birding-basics.
