Activists will take to the streets amid a carnival atmosphere this Saturday, Jan. 19, for the third annual Lincoln County Women’s March.

Anyone interested in supporting human rights and the rule of law is encouraged to join.

Marchers will gather at Newport City Hall at 12:30 pm with the march starting at 1 pm, heading north on Highway 101 and ending up at Newport High School Stadium, where a rally will take place.

Planning committee members have been busy planning the route, getting permits, sound equipment, making signs and inviting local elected officials to participate in the event.

The local march joins the Women’s March on Washington, the Portland and Salem marches and sister marches nationwide. It is sponsored by the Central Oregon Coast NOW Foundation, Lincoln County Democrats and PFLAG.
