The Cascade Head Biosphere Reserve is looking for citizen-scientists to help catalog coastal plants and animals in a Bio-Blitz event this Saturday, June 8.

The Bio-Blitz will run from 10 am to 2 pm, with participants meeting at the Roads End State Recreation Site at the north end of Lincoln City.

Participants should download the iNaturalist mobile app, which they will use to collect valuable information about the plants and animals living on the rocky shore of the Cascade Head Marine Reserve. All ages are welcome.

After registering at 9:45 am, the group will make its way down to the tidepools at the northern edge of the beach to begin the survey.

Participants should dress for the weather, with sturdy shoes, warm clothes and a hat, and bring along a refillable water bottle, snacks and binoculars.

RSVP is required. To sign up, go to and search for “Cascade Head.”

The event is free and open to all. A $10 suggested donation will help support educational, scientific and interpretive programs in the Cascade Head Biosphere Reserve.
