A new slate of winter workshops from Lincoln City mosaicist Joanne Daschel offers aspiring artists the chance to fill any cracks in their creative schedules with classes from January through March.

In “Create A Glass Mosaic Nightlight,” Daschel guides students through a fun short workshop to create a glass-on-glass mosaic nightlight with stained glass. The class, which runs on Saturday, Jan. 19 or 26 or Feb. 9, costs $30 per person and includes materials use of tools, tea or coffee and a light snack.

On Tuesday, Feb. 5, just in time for Valentine’s Day, Daschel will offer “Capture Someone’s Heart with a Mosaic Suncatcher.” Running from 1 to 4 pm, this class will show students how to create a glass-on-glass mosaic using a clear 8-inch heart-shaped base.

On Thursday, March 14, Daschel will partner with Oregon Coast Community College to offer “Celebrate Spring! Mosaic for the Garden.” From 10 am to 3 pm, students will craft a focal point for the garden using outdoor-safe materials including stained glass.

In addition to workshops, Daschel runs Mosaic Studio Sessions for people with previous mosaic experience, offering project guidance along with use of her tools and studio space.

Sessions run from 1 to 4 pm each Monday from Jan. 7 to 28; and from 5:30 to 8 pm each Monday from Jan. 10 to 31. Sessions are $15 per session, or four for $40.
