A corn dog always tastes better when you know you’ve truly earned it. Same goes for cotton candy. So be sure to earn your treats at the Tillamook County Fair by signing up to help out with Tillamook County 4-H.

Volunteers get a free admission ticket for the fair on the days they help out or, if they volunteer before the fair opens, they receive an admission ticket valid for one day of their choice. The fair runs from Wednesday, Aug. 7, through Saturday, Aug. 10.

Volunteer opportunities include fair clerks, who work alongside the official judge and act as the judge’s secretary. Clerks are needed on Monday, Aug. 5, to work with judges for foods and food preservation; art and photography. During the fair, clerks are needed each day to assist with the animal shows. There will be training for clerks on Monday, July 29, at 5 pm.

Volunteer office assistants are needed to work in the 4-H Office at the fair each day, spending three to four hours helping with office tasks and greeting the public.

Volunteers are needed on Tuesday, Aug. 6, to display exhibits in photography and foods for viewing during the fair.

Volunteers are needed to assist with meal cleanup in the 4-H kitchen at the dorm each day. Volunteers receive a meal voucher good for one meal during the fair.

And volunteers are needed to assist with exhibit release and premium payout from 8 to 10 pm on Saturday, Aug. 10.
