Newport Public Library will host Oregon Coast’s “Rock Doc” K T Myers on Saturday, Aug. 17, as part of its Adult Summer Reading Program.

Myers, author of "Agates of the Oregon Coast," will talk about the most desirable stones — from agates to zeolites and everything in between — that are found along the Pacific Coast. She will bring a display to see and feel samples of her rocks up close and personal. People are invited to bring their own beach rocks for Myers to identify.

As a wrap-up to the Adult Summer Reading program, each participant will receive a raffle slip for a chance to win a basket of books.

The presentation, which is free and open to all, will begin at 2 pm at 35 NW Nye Street.  For more information, go to www.newportlibrary.org or call 541-265-2153.
