A new class at the Newport 60+ Activity Center will offer people the chance to enjoy living on the Oregon Coast one step at a time

“Walk With Ease” is a free six-week class designed to reduce pain, build confidence in being physically active and improve overall health.

This evidence-based class is suitable for people of any age or fitness level. Participants will connect with other community members who want to improve their health through a gentle walking program that helps them begin slowly on the path to improved health.

Walking is one of the safest and most beneficial forms of exercise for most people with arthritis and other chronic health conditions. It is safer and puts less stress on the body than most other forms of aerobic exercise. Walking is an especially good exercise choice for people who are older or have been less active.

The class will meet three times each week for six weeks, from 3 to 4 pm on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from March 4 through April 12.

For more information or to sign up, call 541-265-9617 or drop by the Newport 60+ Activity Center, located at 20 SE 2nd Street.
