The Yachats Ladies Club will serve up an old-fashioned treat for a good cause this Saturday, April 27, when it hosts a Swiss Steak Benefit Dinner for CASA of Lincoln and Tillamook Counties.

The Swiss steak recipe calls for round steak to be pounded, floured, browned and then smothered in carrots, tomatoes and turnips. During a long oven braise, the vegetables cook down into a savory, satisfying gravy while the steak becomes almost tender enough to eat with a spoon.

The classic dish will be served up with creamy mashed potatoes, savory roasted vegetable medley, roll and butter and a crisp green salad on the side. This full-course dinner also includes a dessert of Oregon Marionberry cobbler with ice cream and choice of beverage all for $17 at the door. To-go dinners will be available as well.

Funds raised will go toward CASA, or Court Appointed Special Advocates, a nonprofit agency that works toward giving abused and neglected kids the opportunity to thrive.

Rhonda Morrow, interim executive director of CASA, will be in attendance and happy to answer questions about this important service.

The event will run from from 5 to 7 pm at the Yachats Ladies Club Clubhouse, 286 W. Third Street.
