Herbalist Frances O’Halloran will demonstrate the healing properties of the coast’s local and indigenous plants in a Wednesday, May 29, presentation at the Newport 60+ Activity Center.

The presentation will include a hands-on preparation of a local healing plant medicine, with all participants going home with a topical herbal remedy.

O’Halloran has been working, playing and crafting with plants for more than two decades. Her lifelong passion for optimal health, gardening, cooking, crafting and exploring varied bio-regions, along with a dream of living an herbally abundant and creative life, led her to create LoveJoy Botanicals, her herbal medicine-making company. She teaches classes at Oregon Coast Community College and is a year round vendor at the Newport Farmers Market.

The class will run from 2 to 3 pm at 20 SE 2nd Street. Admission is $10 to cover supplies.
