Duncan Berry Fish Print (copy)

By Duncan Berry

Registration is now open for a Japanese fish printing workshop set to take place on Saturday, May 11, at the Lincoln City Cultural Center.

Artists Duncan Berry and Dan Twitchell will demonstrate the Gyotaku artform and guide students of all levels through the process of creating original pieces of art printed directly from the fish themselves.

Students will work with salmon, ling cod, Dungeness crab, albacore tuna and other Northwest species.

As a special bonus, participants will also learn fascinating facts about the lives of these species and about the Marine Reserve program in Oregon.

This two-hour class costs $35 per person including all materials, instruction and two or three finished pieces of art. Families of three to four people can sign up at a special rate of $25 per person.

Register at eventbrite.com, search for “Cascade Head Biosphere Reserve.”
