Tickets are now on sale for the 10th anniversary fund-raising gala in Pacific City benefiting the Nestucca Valley Backpack Food Program.
Hosted at Rowboat Gallery and Windermere West Real Estate, the Saturday, Sept. 14, celebration will feature art, wine, gourmet food, live music and a silent auction.
The Nestucca Valley Backpack Food Program is a community-sponsored non-profit that provides nutritious, non-perishable, easy-to-prepare food to food-insecure children of the Nestucca Valley School District. The program works to ensure these kids have enough food on weekends and holidays when they can not depend on school meals to avoid hunger.
More than 70 percent of the children in the Nestucca Valley School District live close to or below the poverty level. At this income level, USDA predicts that more than 90 kids will be food-insecure, and more than 40 will be very food-insecure, meaning that they will experience hunger and inadequate nutrition, with negative consequences to their health, behavior and ability to learn.
The Sept. 14 gala will start at 6 pm at the Rowboat gallery, 34950 Brooten Road, Pacific City.
Tickets, $25 apiece, are available at Rowboat Gallery, Windermere West Real Estate, Library Thrift Store or on the door.
