It might only weigh three pounds but the human brain is quite the piece of kit, packing in 100 billion neurons that connect at speeds of 300 miles per hour to form memories, thoughts and feelings.

Seems like the kind of organ you might want to keep in good health, and on Thursday, Feb. 7, the Newport 60+ Activity Center will host a presentation on how to do just that.

The discussion will cover brain function across the lifespan, different types of cognition and lifestyle changes that can promote brain health.

The speaker, Marie Laper, is an older adult behavioral health specialist, serving Lincoln County and a licensed clinical social worker, with more than 30 years of experience in behavioral health.

The talk will run from 2 to 3 pm at the Newport 60+ Activity Center, located at 20 SE 2nd Street.
