The Art Smart program of kids art classes will go out with a Big Bang this Saturday, June 1, with a screening of “The Galaxy Artastica” at Lincoln City’s Bijou Theatre.

The movie showcases the space adventure-themed art created by Art Smart students during the most recent season of the program, which is centered around creativity, learning and fun.

This year was a record-breaking year for the Art Smart program, which saw more than 60 kids enrolled in classes every Saturday from January through May at the Artists’ Studio Association.

The children learned how to make stop-gap animation, developed their own planets and worked in many other mediums as they created their outer space story.

The resulting artwork has been adapted for the big screen thanks to the skills of Gray Eubank of Goof Noodle Productions, making for a space odyssey not to be missed.

The screening will start at 11 am at 1624 NE Hwy. 101. Admission is by suggested donation of $10. Art Smart Kids and little siblings get in free.
