Registration is now open for the 24th annual Newport Paper & Book Arts Festival, which invites artists to join the fold for three days of workshops, presentations and talks from April 26 to 28.

This year’s festival is focusing on surface design, collage, paper arts, mixed media, assemblage and box arts.

“There are workshops for artists and community members of all levels,” said festival director Tom Webb. “We have particularly stressed having workshops for those with little experience in book or paper arts, particularly classes in book making.”

This year’s award-winning festival instructors include Alicia Bailey, Casey Newman, Connie Stricks, Glenda Goodrich, Jeri Oswalt, John Arbuckle, Beth McIlraith, Kelley Salber, Laura Mitchell, Margo Klass, Moe Snyder, Randi Parkhurst and Sandi Reinke.

“We encourage people to register early,” Webb said. “The workshops tend to fill quickly and may close before people get their first choices.”
