Young artists are being invited to play their part in spinning another artful tale as the Art Smart program returns Lincoln City on Saturday, Jan. 12.

Aimed at kids aged seven to 13, these Saturday art classes are based around a story that unfolds throughout the series of 16 classes. This year’s theme is outer space adventure.

Instructor Krista Eddy will cover concepts like value, light and shadow, color theory, texture, line quality, space, composition, form and more. Each class will feature a different type of art, such as sculpture with re purposed objects, painting, drawing, scratch art, collage, engineering and stop-gap animation to name but a few.

The program will run every Saturday from Jan. 12 through April 27, with one class from 1 to 2:30 pm and another from 3 to 4:30 pm.

Thanks to funding from the Lincoln County Cultural Coalition and generous donations from the community, the full season of 16 sessions costs just $20, payable on the first day of class.

Kids aged six may attend with an accompanying adult.

To reserve a spot, call Eddy at 541-992-4292 or email k.eddyalexander@gmail.com.

The Artists’ Studio Association is located behind the Artists’ Co-op Gallery at 620 NE Hwy. 101.
