The secrets of the grocery store will be laid bare this Saturday, Feb. 2, when Mike Stephenson takes the mic at the Newport 60+ Activity Center.

Stephenson has 41 years’ experience as a produce manager, 11 years at Safeway in Oregon and 30 years at Save Mart in California.

He will answer questions including “Why are stores laid out similarly?”, “Where is the profit made in stores and how much?”, What produce items won’t improve with age and how do you select and store them?” and “What really goes on in the backroom of a grocery store?”

The presentation, which is free and open to all, will run from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm at the center, located at 20 SE 2nd Street.
