Rock-hounder extraordinaire K.T. Myers, will be at the Newport 60+ Activity Center on Thursday, Sept. 6, talking about agates to zeolites and everything in between.

Since retiring from FACETS Gem & Mineral Gallery after 26 years in the industry, Myers has been sharing her 50-plus years of knowledge through books such as “Agates of the Oregon Coast” and “Oregon Under Foot.”

Myers will be talking about all kinds of treasures commonly found along the Pacific coastline. There will be a display so that guests can see and feel these samples up close and personal.

Guests are also invited to bring a sample stone found along the beach for Myers to identify.

The presentation will run from 2 to 3 pm at 20 SE 2nd Street. For more information, call 541-265-9617.
