Sean Frenette

Multi-instrumentalist Sean Frenette will return to the Oregon Coast this Friday, Feb. 1, to perform a concert at Neskowin Valley School.

Frenette will play solo guitar, piano, woodwinds, percussion and vocals as well as performing alongside guitarist, beat-boxer, poet and vocalist Mikaela Schey.

With influences ranging from Jimi Hendrix to Thelonius Monk and Björk to Bach, Frenette artfully blends improvisation and slow-crafted composition to create a vibrant, captivating musical tapestry. That his music covers a wide range is not surprising given his background as a conservatory-trained classical guitarist, a long-time student of Indian classical vocal music, a prolific composer, a creative improviser and a passionate educator.

Mikaela Schey, formerly of the cosmic-folk quintet Sol Nectar, collaborates on the classical guitar with melodic beatboxing and lush vocals and celebrates creativity as the currency for culture change.

Frenette and Schey will perform at a catered concert event at Neskowin Valley School starting at 7 pm on Friday, Feb. 1, at 10005 Slab Creek Road, Neskowin. Tickets are available at

The pair will also perform at Newport’s Café Mundo on Saturday, Feb. 2. The free, all-ages gig will run from 6 to 9 pm at 209 NW Coast Street. For more information, go to
