Depoe Bay-based musicians June and Joren Rushing have been providing music for the central coast for many years, often for free. Recently the couple experienced separate but serious health emergencies that quickly added up to a substantial medical debt. Friends and grateful community members are inviting fellow musicians, friends or just those that have enjoyed the music of the June Rushing Band to help give back to the couple on Sunday, June 23, at the Newport Eagles Aerie.
Dinner and non-stop music will be provided from 3 to 7 pm for a suggested donation of $10. The comfort-style food will include vegan options and feature Carolina Chicken Bites, a signature dish from Chef Ibin Polk, formally of Cecil’s Restaurant. The Eagles bar will be open for no-host adult beverages. Bidding options at the silent auction will include restaurant gift certificates, art by local artists and music gear and equipment.
Enjoy music from local bands, solo and duo artists or join in on the large stage, where a plug and play set-up will make it easy for musicians who would just like to bring an instrument. Sitting in and jamming will be the name of the tune to encourage a lively community atmosphere and make “Mr. Bigtime Fun” show up and stay ‘till the cows come home.
The Newport Eagles Aerie #2817 is located on Highway 20 just east of Highway 101.
