Lincoln Pops leader John Bringetto

The Lincoln Pops Big Band will try to fill the largest dance floor in the county this Saturday, Aug. 24, when it plays The Beach Club and Events Center in Lincoln City.

The renovated former Elks Club building boasts an expansive hardwood dance floor, perfect for the Pops’ blend of swing-era classics, Latin, blues and hard-driving jazz.

Led by John Bringetto, the Lincoln Pops Big Band has evolved into one of the finest big bands in Oregon and is dedicated to preserving and passing along the heritage of the big band era. Members include current and retired professional musicians, band directors, former high school and college players, a college student and a high school student. With five saxophones, six trumpets, four trombones, piano, guitar, bass, drums, congas, vibraphone and four vocalists, the Pops put on a dynamic show.

Saturday’s concert will run from 7 to 10 pm at 2020 SE 22nd Street. There will be a no-host bar, and food can be ordered from the Beach Club restaurant.

Tickets, $14, are available on the door or in advance at www.eventbrite.com.
