The One Night Delights series of reader’s theater at the Newport Performing Arts Center will continue on Wednesday, May 15, with a performance of “True West,” accompanied by a gourmet dessert pairing.

Variety described True West as “One of Sam Shepard’s best works, a fierce summation of some of his undying themes: the archetypal battle between blood brothers; the cultural collision between modern civilization and its violent past; the lingering death of the Old West.”

The reader’s theater version is directed by Ron Miller and presented by the Oregon Coast Council for the Arts and Red Octopus Theatre Company.

Guests will also get to enjoy a special dessert pairing by Zach’s Bistro — Dueling Bread Pudding with Whipped Crème Fraîche and Drunken Caramel.

The performance will begin at 7 pm at 777 W Olive Street. Tickets, $15 plus ticketing fees, are available by calling 541-265-ARTS or online at www.CoastArts.org.

Proceeds from the evening will go toward renovation of the David Ogden Stiers Theatre at the Newport Performing Arts Center.

The series continues on June 12, with a reading of Paul Rudnick’s comedy hit “Jeffrey,” directed by Stephan Artist.
