Award-winning New York City jazz pianist and composer Ben Rosenblum will play material from his second album “River City” in a pair of Oregon Coast gigs this weekend.
Described as an “impressive talent” by All About Jazz, Rosenblum was a finalist at the 2015 American Jazz Pianist Competition in Melbourne, Florida, and at the 2016 Jacksonville Jazz Piano Competition in Jacksonville, Florida. He has performed in bands led by Bobby Watson, Winard Harper, TS Monk, Curtis Lundy, Chris Washburne and many other jazz luminaries.
His second album, “River City,” was called “richly romantic” and “well-realized” by JAZZIZ Magazine, which featured the title track as part of its Fall 2018 CD.
Rosenblum’s original music and arrangements combine his extensive foundation in straight-ahead jazz with his free-wheeling, modern melodic sensibility and powerful narrative approach to the piano.
He will take to the stage accompanied by Greg Feingold on bass and Ben Zweig on drums.
The Friday, June 14, concert starts at 7 pm at the Hoffman Center for the Arts, 594 Laneda Avenue, Manzanita. Admission is $15 in cash at the door.
The trio will be back in action on Saturday, June 15, with a 7 pm performance at the Lincoln City Cultural Center, 540 NE Hwy. 101. Tickets, $18, are available at www.lincolncity-culturalcenter.org.
