Ever wished you could have your very own artist studio with an ocean view? Well, now you can, with Open Studios at the Newport Visual Arts Center.

On Saturday, Aug. 17 and 24, locals and visitors alike are welcome to stop in and paint, draw or otherwise create while enjoying the vistas from the center’s ocean-view classrooms. Participants are encouraged to bring their own supplies, though limited art-making materials will also be provided.

“’Open Studios’ is an opportunity to share with the creative community and the general public what we sometimes take for granted,” said center director Tom Webb. “The VAC has incredible and inspirational views of Nye Beach and Yaquina Head. Participants can create while remaining out of the elements of wind and rain.”

The studios will be open from 2 to 6 pm both days at 777 NW Beach Drive. Admission is free, but a $5 donation is suggested to cover future supplies.

For more information, contact Webb at 541-265-6569 or twebb@coastarts.org.
