The latest Spotlight Show from Newport’s Yaquina Art Association features the jewelry designs of Calisse Browne.
Browne entered the metalsmithing craft more than five years ago by taking classes at the Denver School of Metal Arts and by training with other artists. She loves working metals, stones, glass, enamel and gems into unique and beautiful pieces of art. It brings her joy to see someone wearing and enjoying a piece of jewelry that she created. She also enjoys reading about the metaphysical properties of stones and used to carry stones in her pockets to benefit from their properties.
Browne works with a number of mediums for her jewelry: silver, copper, enamel and precious metal silver clay — a fine silver product that is manipulated and fired in a kiln.
The Spotlight Show will run through Friday, Aug. 23, available to view from 11 am to 5 pm daily at the Yaquina Art Association Gallery, 789 NW Beach Drive.
