The latest Spotlight Show from Newport’s Yaquina Art Association will feature fused glass art by Reatha Ryan.

Ryan find inspiration in the beauty of sunlight shining through colorful translucent glass. She enjoys the fun of creativity and the balance it brings to her right brain. Having worked as a nurse practitioner in mental health, Ryan finds creating glass pieces is a welcome stress reliever.

Ryan learned the art of fused glass in the studio of Teresa Kowalski, where she has created for 12 years, ever since moving from Portland to live beside the ocean.

Most of her pieces are abstract art, playing with color and form. Her only background in art is working with clients in art therapy and a strong belief that we are all artists if we allow it. She loves the “accidental art” that sometimes surprises when a piece has been fired the second time and is complete.

The show will be on display through Friday, April 5, available to view from 11 am to 4 pm daily at the Yaquina Art Association Gallery, 789 NW Beach Drive.
