The Yaquina Art Association Pedestal Spotlight Show, running through Friday Sept. 6, features the glass work of Mary Young.

Young has been creating fused glass art for 12 years, enjoying the constant surprises and playing with color. Her interest in glass started with her father, who bought a kiln to experiment with years ago, and it took off from there.

Young grew up in Seattle and lived in Portland before moving to the Oregon Coast and has lived in Newport for 13 years. She has been a member of the Yaquina Art Association since 2007.

The Yaquina Art Association Gallery is located in Nye Beach at 789 NW Beach Drive. Hours of operation are 11 am to 5 pm every day. After Labor Day, hours are 11 am to 4 pm.
