SEASIDE — A parade and ceremony will commemorate the centennial of the Seaside Promenade on Saturday.

The 1.5-mile Prom has become one of the most iconic coastal landmarks in the Pacific Northwest.

The Prom Centennial Parade will begin at 10 a.m. at 989 Broadway. The parade route will follow the historic location of Seaside’s train station and continue west down Broadway to the Turnaround.

An official ceremony will take place at the Turnaround at 1 p.m. and will include speeches from Mayor Jay Barber and former mayors and community representatives. Officials will bury a time capsule and break a bottle of sea water to commemorate the milestone.

The public is invited to gather on the beach facing the Turnaround, which will serve as a stage for the ceremony. Those wishing to sit are advised to bring chairs or beach blankets.
