Thank you to all who participated in Coast Weekend’s first book club meeting earlier this month. I hope you enjoyed hearing from “Swedes in Oregon” authors Ann Baudin Stuller and David A. Anderson and “Bookmonger” columnist Barbara Lloyd McMichael.

I’m happy to announce that the book club is continuing. This time, we’ll be reading “Call of the Columbia: River of Redemption,” by Seaside author Brian D. Ratty. You may recognize the title from last week’s edition, which featured a story about the book (available to read online at coastweekend.com).

Ratty’s book tells the story of two men who rescue a young girl, eventually bringing her to Astoria, and create a lifelong bond. The historical fiction novel is the third edition of Ratty’s “Pathfinders” trilogy.

To participate in the book club, read the book by Feb. 3, then visit coastweekend.com or any of Coast Weekend’s social media pages to find a link to a Zoom call, which will start at 6 p.m. During the call, Ratty will participate in a live interview and will answer reader questions.

The book is available in local bookstores.

If you have any questions, email editor@coastweekend.com or call 971-704-1721.
