Valentine and Pearl - 2018 Photo Contest winner (copy)

Meghann Hanour’s ‘Valentine and Pearl,’ took first place in the 2018 Coast Weekend Photo Contest.

Happy holidays. I hope you and your loved ones are safe and able to enjoy the season at home.

While we look back on 2020, I hope you take the time to peruse the entries for Coast Weekend’s 2020 Photo Contest. The contest gallery features about 100 photos, each of which encapsulates different viewpoints of the North Coast. Some photos showcase classic locations like the Wreck of the Peter Iredale and the Astoria Bridge, while others show off local wildlife or lesser-known spots. Photos range in location from Rockaway Beach to Willapa Bay.

In the Jan. 7 edition of Coast Weekend, the contest’s winners will be announced — including the top three photo takers, plus one People’s Choice Award winner. To vote for your favorite entry, visit coastweekend.com, then click “photo contest” at the top of the webpage.

Voting closes at 12:01 a.m. Friday. Whether you make it in time to vote for the contest’s entries, I hope you take the time to look at how local photographers have captured this unique year.

Thank you to everyone who has participated in the contest and other Coast Weekend events this year.
