This week, Bend author Brooke Smith will discuss her new book, “The Keeper of Wild Words,” during the fifth Coast Weekend Book Club meeting. The event will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

The book tells the story of a grandmother and granddaughter who explore nature and language together.

Smith will talk about the inspiration behind her book and her writing process, participate in an interview and answer attendee questions during the event. Smith is a poet and children’s book author. Her book is available to purchase at chroniclebooks.com.

Coast Weekend Book Club’s June meeting will feature Astoria author Florence Sage’s book “The Man Who Whistled, The Woman Who Wished: A Polish-Canadian Story.” The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. on June 2.

Sage’s book features poems and prose inspired by her family and her own experiences. The book is available to purchase locally at RiverSea Gallery and local bookstores.
