Starting this week, Coast Weekend will be hosting six weeks of contests for readers to participate in.

Contests will ask readers to take on a variety of tasks, such as sending in cooking videos, participating in an online battle of the bands competition and sending in themed photos.

Each week, the contest’s theme will vary. Depending on the week’s theme, contests will call for videos, photographs or art.

The top three winners for each contest will receive a gift certificate for a local restaurant.

Funds for the gift certificates come from a grant through Northwest Oregon Works. Coast Weekend and its sister publication, Oregon Coast Today, are using the grant’s funds to help promote local restaurants during April and May.

To participate in the contests, first make sure you are following Coast Weekend. Contests will be promoted on Coast Weekend’s social media accounts, website and in the print edition. The contest will be open for one week after its announcement. After the one-week period, readers will vote for their favorite submissions.

Contest entries will be accepted online at Prize winners will be announced two weeks after each contest is announced.

To participate in this week’s contest, fill out the coloring pages in the middle of this week’s edition. Then, upload a photo of yours or your child’s completed pages to under the “Lockdown Lowdown” tab at the top of the website. Make sure to include all required forms.

Coloring pages will be due by Thursday, April 16. Voting will be open between Thursday, April 16 and Thursday, April 23.

The purpose of the competitions is to help support local restaurants but also help Coast Weekend and Oregon Coast Today’s readers stay active while staying home. I hope you take the time to participate in a contest, whether it’s by sending in a submission or voting for your favorite.
