Earlier this month, Coast Weekend’s author talk featuring Bend author Brooke Smith was canceled. As a replacement for the event, Smith has generously donated one copy of her new book, “The Keeper of Wild Words,” to be given to a Coast Weekend reader through a giveaway.

One winner will be selected randomly. To enter the giveaway, fill out the entry form, including your name and mailing address, at eopubco.secondstreetapp.com/Coast-Weekend-book-giveaway/

The entry period will run between 9 a.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. Tuesday. Entries are limited to one per person.

Smith’s book tells the story of a grandmother and granddaughter who explore nature and language together. She is a poet and children’s book author. Her book is available to purchase at chroniclebooks.com.

In June, Astoria author Florence Sage will discuss her new book “The Man Who Whistled, The Woman Who Wished: A Polish-Canadian Story,” during a virtual event via Zoom. The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. on June 2.

Sage’s book features poems and prose inspired by her family and her own experiences. The book is available to purchase locally at RiverSea Gallery and local bookstores.
