SEAVIEW, Wash. — Sou’wester Lodge is holding three classes for the creative soul this month.

Astoria author Diana Kirk teaches “Climactic Dialogue for the Climactic Story Teller,” 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3. Learn how to write with dialogue to tell your story, or fold your story into an existing one. Find people’s voices — and find your own.

Kirk, the author of “Licking Flames: Tales of a Half-Assed Hussy” and a contributor to “Nasty!,” has been published in Progessive magazine, Nailed, The Psychology of It and has appeared on NPR. She owns the Workers Tavern in Astoria.

On Sunday, Nov. 11, Scott Schaeffer teaches Ecstatic Dance, from 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.

Schaeffer, of Portland, will facilitate this event with a brief introduction of this free-form dance. Then join in as he plays a mix of world and electronic rhythm and beats. Find the joy in moving your body, regardless of how it looks to others.

Finally, from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, learn how to make jumpsuits with Paige Common. By the end of the workshop, participants will have a basic, one-of-a-kind jumpsuit made with their own two hands.

Some sewing experience is required. Contact Common with any sewing or workshop detail questions:

These classes are part of the Sou’wester’s fall/winter 2018 workshop series. RSVP at or 360-642-2542.
