Brown

Dr. Julie Brown has been a professor at Clatsop Community College for 24 years.

ASTORIA — Head to Fort George Brewery and catch a lecture from Clatsop Community College professor, Dr. Julie Brown, entitled “Shakespeare & Shipwrecks: What English Royal Navy Ships Can Teach Us about Shakespeare’s Plays” at 7 p.m. tonight, 1483 Duane St.

This is a free event. Food and beverage is available for purchase, though no purchase is necessary. Doors open at 6 p.m. Minors are welcome.

This summer, Brown studied Shakespeare at Cambridge University and then continued on a journey of climbing aboard shipwrecks in the name of literary research. Come learn from her endeavors. With Brown at the helm, this month’s Ales & Ideas lecture will reveal clues to solve a Shakespearean mystery: the true identity of a character who has baffled readers for 400 years.

The event is part of the Ales and Ideas lecture series, which happen on the first Thursday of the month. For more information, contact jkovatch@clatsopcc.edu.
