Presents, prizes and Santa pics help shelter animals

Dave Engblom of Astoria holds 6-year-old Pomeranian Pebbles as they wait their turn for a photograph with Santa Claus.

ASTORIA — Have some fun and help the Clatsop County Animal Shelter’s dogs and cats, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, at the Fort George Lovell Showroom, 1483 Duane St.

Dress up your pets for pictures with Santa or bid on raffle prizes and silent auction items. You could win a night or two at a local resort or dinner at an area restaurant or find that perfect Christmas gift. And don’t forget our fabulous bake sale featuring specialty cookies and holiday favorites: fudge, breads, pies, cookies, carrot cake, Oregon blackberry jam, apple butter, even doggy treats.

The bidding for raffle items and the silent auction will end at 3 p.m., but Santa will be posing for photos until 4 p.m.
