ASTORIA — Lewis and Clark National Historical Park’s monthly “In Their Footsteps” lecture will be held virtually at 1 p.m. Sunday at youtube.com/user/Lewisandclarknhp.
Junius Rochester will present “The Enlightenment: Eighteenth Century Curiosity about Nation-Building, Science, Exploration and Jefferson’s Role in this Phenomenon.” The presentation will focus on the Corps of Discovery and President Thomas Jefferson’s role in exploring the western portion of the U.S.
Rochester is the author of several history books and articles. He was the regional historian for KUOW, Seattle’s National Public Radio station, for seven years. He is a recipient of an Award of Merit from the American Association for State and Local History and was the deemed Historian of the Year in 2014 by the Pacific Northwest Historians Guild.
