ASTORIA — The next Ales & Ideas lecture features former Independent candidate for governor Patrick Starnes with Astoria’s David Delk, chair of the Oregon Progressive Party. They will discuss campaign finance in Oregon and options for reform.

The presentation takes place at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 7, at the Fort George Lovell Showroom. Doors open with food and beverage service at 6 p.m. No purchase is required. Minors are welcome. The venue is at Duane and 14th streets.

What’s required to enact meaningful democratic reaforms to assure the U.S. has a democracy governed by “We the People,” not “We the Wealthy” or “We the Corporations”? Formal presentations will be followed by an audience Q-and-A and a discussion of ways citizens can become more involved with the movement to support effective democratic processes.

The event is put on by Clatsop Community College and Fort George Brewery.
